A Roman archaeological park in the center of Milan
Always considered a "business city" or at best known for a more recent historicity that starts from the year 1000 (as evidenced by churches, abbeys and Carthusian monasteries found mostly in the surrounding countryside), Milan these days is coming to terms with a sensational discovery: an archaeological park of nearly 4,000 square meters, with Roman evidence that emerged practically by chance in the central area of the Stock Exchange not far from p.zza Duomo.
What emerged from underground during construction work on a new Hotel where a Garage once stood, would appear to be an area of great historical value dating back to the early imperial age, containing remains of what was once a palace of the time and the route of a road, which later became the cardo maximus of the ancient city of Mediolanum, a Roman city of Regio XI Transpadana, formerly a Celtic settlement from 590 BC.
Along with the remains of the ancient Roman Circus (which stands just a few hundred meters away), this find of great historical value could become one of the few open spaces of important value, a heritage of historicity in Milan now close to the Olympic appointment and therefore increasingly projected into the international tourism scene where Milan's cabs will also be playing their part.
A new opportunity for the city of Milan
Mobility permitting, Milan could really be the driving force behind a segment that is increasingly expanding in Lombardy as also demonstrated by cities such as Como, Bergamo and Brescia which just recently have seen important increases in visitor attendance thanks also to initiatives and improvement works to their infrastructures: thanks to the technological connections given by theuse of the Cab App , the service given by the various Radiotaxis in cities and towns are increasingly working in synergy so that we can finally be able to think of an interconnection designed for tourism.
