A look into the future: Our radio station
We at 028585 Taxi Milano have made our radio control center one of our sources of pride, equipped with the most modern technological systemsi and of professional operators, trained and available to accommodate every request of our users.
Periodically the equipment available to operators and taxi drivers is renewed and/or overhauled keeping up with the times and changes in technology, as an example we were among the first to equip the entire fleet with POS payment, we periodically update our mapping according to changes made by municipalities on streets, squares, traffic directions and cab stands, so that we are able to give customers reduced cab waiting times wherever they are, and with IRIS we are also able to reduce the waiting time at the switchboard.
Each car is connected with the radio control center in case of problems the operator can intervene at the request of the taxi driver, in case of accidents, problems or lost items on cabs we can intervene to solve any mishaps or disruptions.
The power plant is equipped with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which makes it possible to maintain constant power supply to all our computer and telephone systems even in the event of a power failure, and to be able to guarantee the service of both receiving calls and receiving reservations, and to manage outbound runs.

How does the cab service work ?
IRIS saves time for both the operator and the customer, but how does the radio cab service work ? i.e., what happens from the moment I dial the radio cab phone number, such as 028585 in our case, and after the entrance jingle my call is taken by the operator or by IRIS ?
As soon as you are contacted you will need to indicate the address for taking the cabsuch as "VIA MURAT 23 MILAN" or a city reference "HOTEL EXCELSIOR GALLIA MILAN," after which you will have to state whether you have special needs, such as the need for 4 passenger seats, or payment by American Express Card, or even if you are traveling with a small dog and therefore need a cab enabled to transport animals, so that the operator can enter the ride on the central system.
At this point the search for the nearest cab starts, whether it is at the cab stand or moving through the city, so as to give the lowest possible waiting time to the customer, as soon as the nearest cab is sent to the latter the ride, the taxi driver within a few seconds will respond to the request in case yes or no that he does not have any technical problems in handling the ride, such as if he is already loading another passenger "on the fly," in case the taxi driver cannot take over the ride a new search will be initiated and he will move on to the second nearest cab.
After finding the nearest available cab, usually the search takes about 20-30 seconds, the operator will confirm the cab's abbreviation, for example "COMO 60" and the minutes of arrival at the point indicated by you "IN 6 MINUTES", at this point there is nothing left to do but wait for the taxi driver to arrive, in case there are any problems or delays, due to the route or traffic, the operator will contact you by phone at the address from which you called.
When does the meter turn on ?
The taximeter, an essential tool in cab rides, turns on, according to current regulations, from when the taxi driver leaves to the address given by the customer when booking, so the route taken by the taxi driver to reach this address is also paid for.
It is important to remember that the meter must be clearly visible to the customer during the trip, and that it must be turned on for the duration of the ride, and stopped when arriving at the destination and the customer, after paying, gets out of the car.
Also remember that credit card payments, which are now widely used everywhere, do not justify the taxi driver charging a surcharge; instead, surcharges are charged, compared to the basic fare, for rides made during night or holiday hours.
